Cultra Footbridge

Cultra Footbridge
Project:
Cultra Footbridge
Short Description:
We installed a replacement footbridge with stairs at Cultra Train Station. This station provides access by rail to the Ulster Folk Museum and Ulster Transport Museum. The original bridge was badly corroded so the decision was made to replace all the steelwork. The design brief was to replicate the existing structure but with added safety features e.g. a higher parapet and better lighting. The total weight of structural steel is approximately 11 tonnes with a high-spec paint finish. In addition, the sides are closed in with 66 No. stainless steel wire mesh panels, which give a pleasing aesthetic finish. There are particular challenges and restrictions to erecting structures adjacent to and over a railway line.
